Courier credentials
A password sent by email can be read by anyone who can read the email. The firm sends them by courier, in sealed envelopes, signed for on delivery.
How it works
- When a client’s staff are set up on the Intranet Suite, the firm generates a temporary password for each person.
- Each password is printed on a card, sealed in a plain envelope addressed to its holder by name, and taken by a courier employed by the firm.
- Envelopes are delivered on a Friday, so that staff can sign in fresh on Monday, and are signed for in person.
- Staff are asked to change the temporary password at their earliest convenience.
Records
A copy of each card is kept in the firm’s records in Secaucus, in case an envelope goes astray. Couriers are employed by the firm.
The envelope
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Envelope | Plain grey wove, no return address, no window |
| Card | One password, the holder’s username and the firm’s telephone number |
| Seal | Gummed, with a security tint printed on the inside |
| Delivery | By the firm’s own courier, Fridays, signed for in person |
